DRESS REHEARSAL AND PERFORMANCE

  • Students must have their hair and makeup done before arrival. **See hair & makeup guidelines below**

  • The School of Classical Ballet will not have time to do hair care or makeup after students arrive.

  • All students will need a full water bottle and a non-messy snack/lunch. Please no peanuts or nuts due to many student allergies.

  • Students MUST NOT ARRIVE EARLY. No early arrival can be accommodated because we want to make sure our volunteers are prepared and ready to check-in and assist the dancers.

  • The only jewelry permitted is small stud earrings. Please have your dancer leave all necklaces, bracelets, watches, rings, and all valuables at home so nothing gets lost.

Parents are not allowed to stay and watch during the dress rehearsal or show preparations -- with the exception of parent-helpers.

BETWEEN DRESS REHEARSAL AND PERFORMANCE
Starting at 4:00pm, all students will move from the auditorium seating to the backstage dressing rooms. The dressing rooms are large with plenty of space for the students during the show. There will be coloring books and crayons and a movie being shown. Quiet, clean activities to keep dancers occupied like books or playing cards are permitted.

DROP OFF
When you arrive at the school, go through the auditorium entrance on Cambridge Street and the doors to the theatre are straight ahead. Please walk your dancer to the auditorium doors for check-in.

When your child receives the costume, please take care of it, as there are NO EXTRA COSTUMES. There should be no eating or drinking (except water) in costume unless a cover-up, such as a t-shirt, is worn. Please remove all nail and toenail polish unless it is clear or pale pink. Please also remove temporary tattoos. The only jewelry permitted is small stud earrings. Please have your dancer leave all necklaces, bracelets, watches, rings, and all valuables at home so nothing gets lost.

HAIR
Girls: All dancers are to wear their hair pulled back neatly and smoothly in a bun with a hairnet around it (unless otherwise noted in the above costume section).
If hair is too short for a bun, it needs to be pulled back away from the face as much as possible. Please use hair spray and hair gel to keep hair in place and to prevent any wispies or flyaways. It is distracting to the dancers to have hair in their face while onstage. Bobby pins or non-descript clips will also help. Please no bright or colorful hair accessories.

Boys: Hair should be neat, combed, and gelled or clipped back away from the face. If boys’ hair is long, they are to wear their hair pulled back neatly and smoothly in a bun with a hairnet around it (unless otherwise noted in the above costume section).

MAKEUP
Pre-Ballet and Primary I classes:
make-up is optional for this age group. If you do choose to have your child wear it, gold eye shadow, pink blush, and dark pink or red lipstick are all that is needed for girls. For boys, pink blush is all that is needed.

Primary II, Primary III, Ballet I/II, Ballet II/III, Contemporary, Educational Ballet: Girls’ makeup--gold eye shadow, pink blush, red or dark pink lipstick. Foundation, black eyeliner, and black mascara are optional. For boys, pink blush is all that is needed.

Ballet IV/V: Foundation and/or powder, gold eye shadow, black eyeliner, black mascara, pink blush, dark pink or red lipstick.

Sincerely,
